Paynes Prairie and Micanopy

Paynes Prairie State Park cannot be seen in a day. If you are a hike or wildlife photographer this place is near heaven! The campground is roomy and the tent camping area is well set up. The Bolen Bluff Trail, Cone's Dike Trail and La Chua Trails are a bit of a drive apart and all have something special to offer. There are many opportunities to see the American Bison, Cracker Horses and alligator. Birding in this area is some of the best during migration season. The historic town of Micanopy has quirky shops and eateries. The nearby Marjorie Kinnan Rawlings Historic Park and home near Cross Creek offer a look back into Florida's Past. Dine at The Yearling Restaurant to wrap it all up. You can even stay at one of their cabins if you do not like tent camping.

Cumberland Island and St Mary Ga

This very unique trip allows you to camp on Cumberland Island with wild island horses. Miles of trails, historic buildings, pristine seashore and more await you at Cumberland Island National Seashore.

Visit the nearby Okefenokee National Wildlife Refuge, camp at Crooked River State Park and visit St. Marys where you will find a small coastal village and lots of Southern hospitality. Fort Frederica National Monument, Timucuan Ecological & Historic Preserve, and the City of Jacksonville, FL are also nearby.

Everglades City and Beyond

Take a Swamp Walk and visit Clyde Butcher's Everglades Gallery, check out the National Park Visitors Center, or camp at the Swamp Ape Research Center. Take a ride on an airboat out to Totch's Island or on one of the other tours offered. Visit the Historic Woman's Club Museum and Smallwood's Trading Post. Cycle Shark Valley, birdwatch, and more. The Everglades is a land like no other in the world!

Key West and the Dry Tortugas

Catch the ferry out of Ft Myers to Key West and book a stay at one of the historic inns not far from Duval St. Take a day trip by ferry or sea plane out to the Dry Tortugas for exploring and snorkeling. Charter a off shore guided fishing trip, explore the museums, gaze upon real pirate treasure and experience some of the best seafood you have ever eaten. Camp at Fort Zachary Taylor Historic State Park, visit Hemmingway's home and the lighthouse. There is too much adventure to list!

Myakka Hiking and Touring

Stay in Myakka River State Park or book a private guided camping stay at Crowley Museum and Nature Center nearby for a more private experience. Explore pioneer homes, hike an array of trails. Experience the treetop canopy tour or hike out to see hundreds of alligators out at Deep Hole. visit the nearby winter home of Herrmanns' Royal Lipizzan Stallions to catch a show or challenge yourself on a ropes course at TreeUmph! Adventure Course Take time to enjoy a wonderful meal at Stottlemyer's Smokehouse before heading into nearby Sarasota, St Armands Circle or Mote Marine Laboratory & Aquarium.
